Ibn Taymiyyah, may God have mercy on him, said: The whole religion revolves around two things: loyalty to the truth, and mercy for creation. From being kind to the weak, helping the distressed, helping the oppressed, relieving the distressed, the worried and the oppressed. It is a mercy that is not limited to human beings, but extends to other creatures. In the hadith, God forgave a man who saw a dog panting eating a rich meal out of thirst, and he distinguished himself for his watering. All of this confirms that mercy in Islam is the undisputed precedent of all other attributes, and that dealing with mercy is the principle that never breaks down.
