When God’s Messenger turned forty, he received revelation from God and the Qur’an continued being sent down to him bit by bit over a period of 23 years. The first verse he received was, “Read in the name of your Lord who created” (96:1). This verse ushered in a new era of knowledge, reading, light and guidance for all mankind.
